The M1 Garand rifle uses a distinctive metal clip, also called an "en bloc" clip, to feed its internal magazine. This clip holds eight rounds of .30-06 Springfield ammunition. When the last round is fired, the empty clip is automatically ejected with a characteristic "ping" sound.
